In addition to the regular volunteer sessions and guided walks, FoHL uses grant funding to run specific projects and gets involved in local campaigns that impact Ham Lands.

Nature On Our Doorstep

In 2023, FoHL was awarded a grant of £7,000 from Richmond Council's Local Area Fund for the Nature On Our Doorstep project.

The project has four main components:

• Sounds of Ham Lands. Experiencing some of the amazing and surprising sounds on Ham Lands.

• Lend a Hand. Active involvement in habitat management to encourage biodiversity.

• Understanding Ham Lands. Widening the appreciation and understanding of the biodiversity and special nature of Ham Lands Local Nature Reserve.

• Promotion and Publicity. Promoting the events and activities outlined above and growing the support and involvement in Friends of Ham Lands.
