Early Spring Walk on Ham Lands
Sunday 25 February 2024
14:00 to 15:30
This guided walk will show what is happening on Ham Lands as spring starts to arrive. We will pay particular attention to our splendid Cherry Plum blossoms, with their almond scent, and to the lichens found on trees while their leaves are still in bud.
Cherry Plums are very common on Ham Lands where we have several species. They are the first trees of the year to delight us with their blossom. Our guide will show us the different species and explain how to identify them.
The walk will also provide the opportunity to look more closely at the fascinating variety of lichens (composite organisms with algae living among filaments of fungi) that can be found on trees and to learn how they are indicators of air quality.
Please register via Eventbrite so that we can manage numbers and keep you updated on any changes. Register at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/early-spring-walk-on-ham-lands-registration-840220430927?.
If the event becomes fully booked then you can still come as a booking is optional.
