Annual Architectural Tour
Saturday 16 July 2022
11:00 to 12:30
This years annual Ham United Group architectural tour sees us behind the scenes at Orford Hall ( early c18 and Grade II Listed ) on the north side of Ham Common. Known now as Orford Place after major conversion works during the past five years, it’s previous post war function was as a centre for the Community of the Sisters of the Church following on from residential and institutional use. Richard Woolf, long time HUG member and local architect, will lead-off on a two hour tour investigating the issue of the sites evolution and change up to the c21.
Those with an historic knowledge of the site are very welcome to add their knowledge as we perambulate. Anyone with a keen arboriculturally eye will be most welcome as we visit the gardens. Please meet on the common in front of the main gate and not on the pavement, where we could obstruct pedestrians.
